Hospitalists are a growing and vital group of physicians in the US healthcare system. More than 15,000 hospitalists are practicing today, and this number is expected to double by 2010. Hospitalist programs have shown success in decreasing length of stay, reducing costs, and optimizing patient care. As this movement spreads and matures, hospitalists will gain greater responsibility, visibility, and control within the healthcare system. Success will require a versatile skill set and access to ongoing education on the latest evidence-based medicine (EBM) that addresses many of the challenges hospitalists regularly encounter.

Hospitalist-CME.com provides physicians with an evidence-based framework within which to critically appraise medical literature and apply it to the care of patients they treat each day. This approach integrates the best external evidence with individual clinical expertise and patient’s choice in order to ensure quality of care and patient safety. Hospitalist-CME.com was developed by leading hospitalists at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine to provide hospitalists with access to the expertise and resources needed to incorporate EBM into daily practice and become leaders in its application.
